Want to know the secret to life?

Isn’t it awesome and inspiring when the universe conspires to work for you, rather than against you? When you’re at your wits end, with nowhere else to turn, with no one else to talk to, when everything seems like it’s falling apart and you just want to kick and scream and curl up in the fetal position, the universe is right there to pick you back up and remind you of how incredibly awesome you are. Isn’t it beautiful when the universe knows what you need, exactly when you need it?

This past year has been incredibly rough for me. It tested me in ways I never thought one could be tested. It changed me. It morphed me until I became only a shell of the person I was before. I was angry, irritable, sad and just plain pissed off at the world. It’s ironic though, because on the outside looking in you would probably think my life is/was damn near perfect. I promise it was anything but. That’s the thing with social media: It leaves you in this faux reality where everything and everyone is perfect except for you. It makes you feel all alone and leaves you breathless after just a few scrolls. But social media won’t save you. You can post however many edited pictures, you can try to share as many positive memes as you can, you can try to gain as many followers as you can, but it won’t cure your ugly life. The universe is the only force powerful enough to give you everything you’ve ever wanted or dreamed of. That’s called mercy.

Yesterday, I found myself crying at the drop of a hat. Every time thoughts arose in my mind of what my future might entail, the tears started flowing. I screamed at myself “Keep your shit together Kayla, You’re a badass, You’re so much damn more than enough”. Waking up this morning, again the tears started. I felt like I didn’t even know who I was anymore. I felt like I was outside my body looking in to my reality watching the pain of life beating me until I was seemingly unconscious. I felt defeated in every way. Have no fear! Remember when I said the Universe will pick you back up every time you fall?

This morning I didn’t have anything to wear to the vets office. I kept Ava out of school so she could help me wrangle up my moms dog and haul her off to the vet for her chemo treatment. Suddenly, I found myself in my black skinnys, my black chucks and my black, grey and white flannel. It may sound silly but that outfit is so calming for me. It brings me back to the time that I was genuinely happy, before my ex boyfriend stole everything I had ever worked for away from me. It reminds me of who I am. As I looked in the mirror to check myself out before walking out the door, a smile slid across my face as I caught a glimpse of the old Kayla. I quietly said “Thank you Universe”. I then get in the car with Ava and turn on Apple Carplay. I toss my phone over to her and tell her to pick the music from my Spotify playlist. Suddenly, a familiar tune comes across the speakers causing “the ugly cry” to make an appearance. She had turned on “Sugar, Honey, Ice & Tea” by Bring Me The Horizon. No, I’m not an emotional, sappy wreck who cries at every sentimental song but this one really hit me.

You see, Ava is the only person in the entire world who knows literally everything about me. She knows that when we go to Walmart I will most likely get “buggy rage” and get overwhelmed with anxiety and frustration, she knows how I like my coffee (Uhh Hello! A venti, 6 shot, whole milk, Chestnut Praline Latte pretty please!) and she knows when I’m trying to hold back tears or keep a secret from her. She just knows but the one that really gets to me is how she knows exactly who I am, even in the moments I’m certain that I’ve lost myself. When I realized I was sitting beside my girl in the front seat, wearing my favorite grungy outfit, listening to BMTH, with the sun beaming through the windshield and a smile on my girls face, tears welled up in my eyes once again. Not the sad tears, but the happy ones. The tears that solidify you’re doing something right. The tears that show me how incredibly freaking blessed I am.

The point I’m trying to make is this: I’ve been doing daily affirmations and using The Law of Attraction principles to set my future up for greatness. I’ve become one with the Universe and let me tell you, It’s like a brand new love story has made its way back to me. Kayla and Universe sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. No shame in my weird love making game, I’m freaking in love with this Universe of mine.

We all have the power and the greatness within ourselves to manifest whatever reality we want. We can literally think ourselves into our highest hopes and dreams. The secret? Knowing with certainty that you already have the things you dream for. You have to be thankful for it, even though you can’t see it or feel it. You have to tell yourself, “This is my dream, This is my reality, This is my life, Thank you Universe for helping me to become great”. Here’s how I incorporate The Law of Attraction into my every day life:

  1. Meditate every day, at least twice if you can! I like to listen to a short meditation in the mornings then fall asleep to a sleep hypnosis guided meditation at night. I put my Air-pods in my ears, cut on some white noise such as my Molekule air purifier (in boost mode, of course), and allow myself to drown out the rest of the world and fall into a peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating sleep.

  2. EVERY morning I sit down at my desk, open my journal, and spend a solid half hour or more writing down my daily affirmations. I pick an affirmation, sometimes it’s the same as the day before and sometimes I choose a new one- it’s completely up to you, then I write out my affirmation as many times as my paper will hold. This is one of the most important steps to manifesting. Make sure you repeat your daily affirmation throughout the day, in totality, over and over. Look yourself in the mirror while saying it, turn your affirmation into a song by singing it with a tune in the background, you can even say it loudly on your bicycle while the crisp wind is blowing against your rosy red cheeks. The secret is really very simple, Affirm your affirmations!

  3. Write down different affirmations on post-it notes throughout your house or write them on your mirrors. I have several written on my private bathroom mirrors along with printed out copies hanging on the back of my bedroom door and beside my bed on the wall, etc. This will be much easier and quicker for you if you can find ways to remind yourself of your affirmations so you can remember to repeat them to yourself during the day. Find what works best for you! Every time you see an affirmation, stop, appreciate it, then say it loudly and OWN IT!

  4. Make a gratitude journal! I’ve read studies on the affects of gratitude journals and this stuff is serious business! It significantly improves how you view yourself and the world, and creates happiness in the places that happiness is lacking. In my journal on the front of the page I write out my daily affirmations as many times as I can, then I flip the page over and write out my Daily Gratitude list on the back. I like having all my stuff in one place, in one journal, but you can do this however you’d like! There’s no wrong way to be thankful for the beautiful things the universe has gifted us with.

  5. Laugh. I would say this is hands down the most important lesson of all. Just laugh. Laugh at yourself, laugh at someone else, or laugh with someone. Heck, if nothing is funny then force yourself to belch out the loudest, most obnoxious, fake laugh you can force out. Eventually, once you start snorting like a pig, its inevitable that true laughter will soon follow, leaving you feeling regenerated and at peace.

I don’t have all the answers to life but what I do know is that you are solely responsible for how your future turns out. You have to want greatness with every ounce of your soul. Your sweat needs to be rolling off you with greatness. Greatness. Say it with me! “GREATNESS”. Now, go manifest that.

(I would love to hear your personal stories on how you have incorporated The Law of Attraction and it’s principles into your life and what miracles you have manifested. In the future, I’d like to do a post containing the stories of my followers and how they’ve overcome adversity. Email me your stories along with a yes or no for permission to share your stories anonymously.)
